The Civilisation of Machines n°2 2019

Civilization, machines and the earth. Welcome to the second issue of our magazine.

The "Futures" section is dedicated to precision agriculture, as explored by Nuria Sanz, which extends its influence over our time from distant rural tracts - it is responsible for 80% of world food production. Satellite-driven ploughs and increasingly finite soil resources, which call on us to dedicate ourselves tirelessly to studying new solutions, and demand our respect. The garden and the city in Islamic tradition, technology in the kitchen. Great European poetry marked by the rigour of thought.

History. The story of the Giulietta, as told by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco. The late fifties in Taormina and Paris. Presenting the Giulietta Spider - finally a woman among many Romeos.

"Long thoughts" on philosophy and science in interviews with Fabiola Gianotti and Julian Nida-Rumelin.

A digital approach to sport, from algorithms to data science, explained by the intelligent and entirely human voices of Carlo Ancelotti and Davide Mazzanti.

And art, music and memory. The world interpreted through the dynamic language of science and the pleasure of writing. The over-arching and unwavering goal of every page of our magazine.

Museums System

The Leonardo museums bear exceptional witness to the technological and industrial memory and constitute an instrument of dialogue and constant sharing between the company and the territory. They were born out of the awareness that a large part of the industrial culture of our time is not only produced by the great cultural and educational institutions, but is also formed within companies. Living, dynamic structures, corporate museums represent a point of reference for communities and territories, centres of industrial culture open to visitors, researchers, students, economic and cultural operators.
